Therefore, the safety of any particular brand of liquid zeolite will depend upon:

• How the zeolite is cleaned and processed
• The safety of any chemicals or other substances that are added during manufacture
• Cleanliness of the actual manufacturing site or laboratory.

The first category of liquid zeolite to strike off your shopping list is probably the ones containing humic acid. The reason for this is that raw material humic acid is extracted from the soil and tends to have a very high bacterial and fungal content. Much of these microorganisms are removed during manufacture but certainly not all, and two different companies trading humic acid varieties of liquid zeolite have already been closed down because of this issue.

Apparently, the real danger is not so much the bacterial contamination but the fungal contamination. So if you insist on buying humic acid based liquid zeolite, insist on third-party lab bacterial and fungal analysis. If the company doesn’t have one or delays in giving it to you, walk away.

Your health is more important.

We have seen third-party safety analysis of NCD brand liquid zeolite and the other leading liquid zeolite brand which is manufactured differently for the US market and the UK market (we will publish this online shortly). NCD and the US version of the alternative brand both had very low (<10) bacterial and yeast mold counts, although the latter had a trace of sodium benzoate in it which is a preservative. The UK version of the alternative liquid zeolite brand had a bacterial count of 147 and a yeast mold count of 283, but these are still considered low and safe to take. At this stage, from all the evidence that we have seen, we have to say that we have most confidence in the NCD brand of liquid zeolite. And whilst we will be publishing here comparative analyses shortly, we have the following NCD safety document for this particular product.
